Halloween Creative Fun

Its that time again & we thought this year for Halloween we'd not only carve a pumpkin we'd also set a spooky scary devilish scene! We had great fun making it. I'm chuffed with the result, but should admit had id not been so tight and refusing to pay no more than a £1 for a pumpkin it would of been even better and more proportional to the rest of the scene.
We began by cleaning off the pumpkin and free hand drawing a face onto it
we find it better if you remove the base as it stands much better and i like to see the lid left intact

now to set the scene in the garden,we went to our local woods and gathered some twigs, leaves etc,i made a small broom stick with the twigs & lay some leaves down where i was going to arrange my spooky scene. I found an old top and pair of trousers, cut the sleeves and stuffed them with the inside of a pillow to make them look like legs. I took the trousers and cut one leg of and done the same (stuffed with pillow filling) & could now see things starting to take shape.I took to bamboo canes and slide them into the stuffed sleeves and put a pair of my boots onto them... thats the legs made! Now to push them into the ground to make it look as if there was someone part burried. The Pumpkin was then placed onto the pile of leaves and the leg that i stuffed was placed into the pumpkins mouth giving the impression the pumpkin was tucking into it! Now red sauce and lots of it,at the base of the legs, over the pumpkins mouth, all over the leg coming from the pumpkins mouth and not forgetting all over my hands and the knife. Ooooh sting!!! cheap red sauce in full of vinegar and vinegar in cuts equal mega STING!!!! the things we do hey?!?!?

Was a great day and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Up- cycling project. Pine Bed into Memorial Bench

Hello heres a picture of what we have made/upcycled  The bench was once a pine double bed owned by a loved one and is now a very special memorial bench-The bed use to be my darling Mums-we had to get a new bed, but i just couldnt bring myself to part with the bed so thanks to my husband we managed to turn the bed into a very special memorial bench
Its lovely to....

Repurpose, Reuse and Upcycle Old Things

We dismantled the bed and took the foot board & cut in half & then this was used for the sides of the bench. The side rails of the bed were used the front cross support. The bed slats were used for seating area. We used an external undercoat & gloss to paint it & a good quality yacht varnish to protect it from the weather.

Many have a memorial bench to remember a loved one. I have very special memorial bench - with huge thanks to my darling husband for making it for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog
I wish you a lovely day!
And remember...

Pancake Wintery Scene *Twit Twoo*

With pancake day only a day away i decided to make some pancakes, but thought i'd make some with a difference!
It's always good to have food with food and who says you have to stick to round pancakes?!?! Not me!
I began with the basic pancake recipe mix
4oz's plain flour
1/2 pint of milk
1 medium egg
pinch of salt
(few drops of green food dye)
I made the first pancake adding a few drops of green food dye to the mixture... ewww as you can see from the pic its not the most appetising looking of pancakes lol
I then carried on with making the plain pancakes-sml amount of oil just enough to cover the pan but making sure it was very HOT!
I then crushed some ginger nut biscuits as i had the idea that they would be great in the scene i was going to make-i took a red charger plate as i thought it would make a great background-nice and bright! i then went about making a scene with my pancakes-first i placed the crushed biscuits at the base and then i cut out a tree shape placing it on the plate and judging by eye where best to put the branches.I then took the green pancake and using scissors i cut out spiral shapes and then rolled them up to make flower  like shapes to use in the scene.I broke off small pieces of green pancake in random sizes for leaves on the branches-It was starting to take shape nicely i thought!
Now i was left thinking what next ? i then had a look in my cupboards and placed on my worktop what i had and then BAM it came to me an OWL i'm gonna make an owl! I cut out another shape which i thought looked like the outline of an owl *twit twoo* an owl has to have big eyes hmm what have i got that i could use that was again edible...hmm there was my fruit bowl and a kiwi so sliced to slices and placed them onto the body shape YAY it worked! i placed two oval shape gold ebible beads as pupils,i loved the way it made the owl look all alert! now i needed to make him a nice breast of feathers, but what could i use?!?! aha cereal and my Son loved his malties or as he calls them "Squares" i got a knife out and tried to cut them in half... hehe what was i thinking of?as if they would slice neatly without breaking ermm nope! so instead i left them whole and placed them diagonally in a fashion that would make it look like his breast feathers..all plump!I sliced orange for the lil fellas wings and a triangle of ornage peel for his beak. With the pancake that was left over i cut out stars using a star cutter and took some silver and blue edible beads and placed them randomly.I finished it all off with some orange peel stars and a light dusitng of edible glitter... taa daa!!..........
Percy the Pancake Owl!!!
